COSTCO = ZERO
Only good thing about Costco is EB gives me a ride. Costco sucks. So does
K-Mart. Last time I went to Costco I got a case of tuna. It was the grossest
tuna ever. Stunk worse than cat food, and watered-down for extra profit.
I also got what I thought was one of my favorite ten-dollar wines. Both
bottles tasted rancid. You have to buy everything in bigger-than-you-want
packs, and most stuff is not actually any cheaper there than it is anywhere
else.

| WAL-MART = 8 good cheap shoes, camping & fishing gear, G-string panties... and you can return anything, even if you broke it, to any Wal-Mart - no questions asked. There is a growing cult of Wal-Mart in this country, people who drive across the country in RV's from one Wal-Mart to the next. Wal-Mart loses 2 points for being a cheesy sprawl-chain and having no style. But I still wish they would tear down the Giants stadium and build a 24-hour Wal-Mart. Imagine... after the bars close... 2:00 a.m. sure-score underwear shopping by the Bay... | ||

SAFEWAY = 1
They don't get a zero because they sometimes have specials on Kraft Mac-n-cheese
(don't get the store brand, it sucks). But they charge double for milk
what Trader Joe's charges, cereal is five bucks a box, the fruit is plastic,
just about everything they sell is from the big commercial corporations
- Lots of advertising, pesticides, bunny-torture and low-wage jobs. They
pump in nauseating soft-pop music, and then there's those obnoxious brain-splitting
fluorescent lights, the drooling junkie security guards, the junkie cashiers,
I mean, you can just tell they enforce bad management policies. And there's
the hour-long lines.... some insane asshole always gets in front of me
in that place, imposing a toothless one-way conversation...

TRADER JOE'S = 10
TJ's has style. And they always got what I want. Fast and Cheap. Nice
place to hang around even if you don't need nuthin. Bike parking out front.
Friendly workers. No problemo return policy - they gimme my money back
with either the thing/package and no receipt, or the receipt and no thing/package
(good thing, cause sometimes the meat & fish is rancid, but that's an
adventure in itself, so they don't lose points).

| ROSS (Potrero Plaza) = sometimes 7, sometimes ZERO Sometimes, you can get insane killer deals on really good shit. Most of the time it's not worth looking. Most of the time, the place is packed with neglected screaming kids and a drab assortment of damaged duds. Baddie Baddie Chain Store. | ||
